Best Coffee In Auckland CBD

Not that I will be a regular caller since buying a daily coffee does not to a life of frugal badassity lead. That said, here are my top picks for the best coffee Auckland's CBD area.

#1 The Shelf

This is a no brainer. Not just by far the best coffee in town; consistently perfectly blended, thick crema, never bitter and served hot. But also happens to be have awesome service, amazing presentation and very tasty, inspired food. Their hot chocolates are also worth a look, made with real chocolate.

The recipient of my dollars today. An institution among Auckland's coffee connoisseurs. They roast and blend their beans on site and change the blends throughout the year. Named after the founder Ben Boyle an award winning barista, they only offer cabinet food - it's ALL about the coffee here!

#3 Coffix Britomart

I'd been meaning to pay a visit to this hole in the wall for a while and popped here for my afternoon fix (did not sleep well last night!). I wanted to know if $2.50 coffee was too good to be true and can gladly say that it is not - this would be great coffee even at full price. Sure it's not too the boutique standard's set by The Shelf and Ben, but still as good if not better than most other cafes in the area. They also sell a range of muffins etc, also all $2.50.

I've not been here for a while as not often around this area anymore, but if the standards have not dropped from a few years ago it should be worth the hike up Queen Street. Always had a lot of interesting books, magazines to flick through whilst enjoying your brew...
